Closer And Confusion
Sitting in the candlelight
I daydream that someone's holding me tight
Squinting at the sudden brightness
I wonder if I really should've ended this
But I know that you're not good for me
We needed to grow apart and break free
So lying on my bed one night
I look up at my ceiling light
I reach up to turn my light off
And get rid of my feelings for you and move on
Now I know I need to go look elsewhere
And I can find someone else out there
But how do I find that someone else
To anchor me to come and help
How do I find my romance for life
Because rejection can hurt me
And all I need is someone by my side
Hoping you will understand
I ask you to come hold my hand
The suspense just might kill me
And I hope that you will help be break my chains
The only thing I want is you to hold me tight
To never let go and show me your light
Crashing down around my head
I cant believe that’s what you said
Did you have to dash my hopes(and dreams)
How can you do this to me if you know
I'm fragile and I cant lose hope
How kind of you to make me leave… again
But how do I find that someone else
To anchor me to come and help
How do I find my romance for life
Because rejection can hurt me
And all I need is someone by my side

A Bowl Of Oranges
Sometimes they're tart, but they can be sweet. Bright orange or dull brown, You can never tell how sour they can be. Or from the outside how soft; Soft and sweet, Mushy and brown, Hard as rock. With all that skin on the outside, How can you get in? You can't cut it, Pierce it, Bang it, You'll ruin it. It needs to be perfect, Or it will fail. I'd rather life be a bowl of cantaloupe; So nice and sweet and tasty. Never a blemish, Always a favorite. Easy to get in, However you do it. Not ruined, Always good. Better than a bowl of oranges.

The Wind
I saw you toss the kites on high
And blow the birds about the sky;
And all around I heard you pass,
Like ladies' skirts across the grass
Oh wind, a blowing all day long,
Oh wind, that sings so loud a song!
I saw the different things you did,
But always you yourself you hid.
I felt you push, I heard you call,
I could not see yourself at all
Oh wind, a blowing all day long!
Oh wind, that sings so loud a song!
O you that are so strong and cold,
O blower, are you young or old?
Are you a beast of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me?
O wind, a blowing all day long,
O wind, that sings so loud a song!

Silence
Silence, Silence, Silence…
Silence is the language of my seclusion
Silence is my Shadow, is not an illusion
Silence is the Reason of my SOLITUDE
Silence SILENCES the words- so crude
Silence makes me a DEEP THINKER
Silence makes me a PeaCe-Maker
Silence, Silence, Silence…
Silence grows up my WISDOM
Silence gives me my FREEDOM
Silence wipes my sad tears,
Silence sheds my happy tears,
Silence summarizes the Experiences of years,
Silence whispers in my ears,
Silence, Silence, Silence…
Always gives me a hope to overcome my fears.

Miss Rosie
When I watch you
wrapped up like garbage
sitting, surrounded by the smell
of too old potato peels
or
when I watch you
in your old man's shoes
with the little toe cut out
sitting, waiting for your mind
like next week's grocery
I say
when I watch you
you wet brown bag of a woman
who used to be the best looking gal in Georgia
used to be called the Georgia Rose
I stand up
through your destruction
I stand up

Is Anybody Happier
Is anybody happier because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did said?
Does the man whose hopes were falling, now with courage look ahead?
The day is almost over, and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Did you make your day, or loose it?
Was it well or sourly spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness?
Or a scar of discontent?
And as you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that G-D will say
"You have earned one more tomorrow, by the things you did today".

Still I Rise
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt,
But still, like dust, I’ll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own backyard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history’s shame
I rise
Up from a past that’s rooted in pain
I rise
I’m a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

Being Friendly
How hard can it be to say hello to a stranger on the street, or smile and say " how are you" to anyone you meet?
It sure can't hurt to be polite or lend a helping hand, to give a friendly word of cheer and respect your fellow man.
Be friendly toward your neighbor, Don’t try to shut him out, Peaceful co-existence, That’s what life is all about.
You can turn a frown into a smile By just the words you say, Like “please” or “thank you very much” Or “have a real nice day”.
Sometimes a friendly gesture Or a little word of praise, Is all it takes to bring that smile, It’s true - you’d be amazed!
Remember the times you were off somewhere In an unfamiliar place, How much better it made you feel When you saw a smiling face?
If you apply the Golden Rule To all you say and do, You’ll talk to others just the way You’d have them talk to you.
We're in this world together and will be till we die, we can't make friends with everyone but it wouldn't hurt to try!

A Heroic Birthday
Want to wish you a heroic birthday
In the most noble way
Your day will be decked with gold
Mirth and felicity would not leave you cold
Your progress will never be slow
Your feat will be that of a great show
We are going to spread the news around
And let the ecstasy abound
Never will you be the tail
Never will you fail
From this day forth
You will become more than a worth
We desire for you a great wonder
That will make you to ponder
You gave us happiness as you could
Therefore, we give ours, as we should
To you, success will belong
Wherever you go, prosperity will follow along
Blessings from your heavenly Father
Will propel you farther
Nothing will make you sad
Firmly, you shall stand
Moreover, we wish a rapid increase to your bank
And it shall never go blank
You shall find gladness in your dreams
They will come as streams
You will not lose your wills
Finally, you will be as old as the hills
Want to wish you a heroic birthday
In the most noble way

A Tall Grass Story
As I lie here, eyes half closed, I wonder Why does the grass wave to me? Has the summer breeze asked it to greet me And if so, what does it wish to say But I think the Chinese whispers of a thousand blades Might confuse the message beyond recognition Perhaps I should ask instead, the shaded underbelly of the lonesome oak, Standing aloof mid-field For surely he hears the same story from the breeze And then again perhaps I have it all wrong, it's a message from the grass, So many strands waving their message make the pleasant breeze If that is the case then, I think I must lie here a while longer And listen to the story they wish to tell

The Little Bird Is Calling
The little bird is calling,
It wishes to return.
The little bird is wounded,
It cannot fly but yearn.
It’s captured by the vultures,
Crying bitterly,
Oh, to see my nest again,
Oh, to be redeemed.
The little bird of silver,
So delicate and rare,
Still chirps amongst the vultures,
Outshining all that’s there.
How long, how long it suffers,
How long will it be,
When will come the eagle,
And set the little bird free.

Meaningful Words
Meaningful words
Words that are said to reach you,
Can reach across an ocean,
Oceans call words, words,
Across a rolling ocean
Oceans calling to me,
Gazing across the ocean I stand,
Calling, listening, across a rolling ocean,
A windy smile calls, words of love across the ocean,
Gentle words remind me of the love I once shared,
Standing by the oceans edge, I can hear
Words that echo across the oceans edge,
Words floating away, in the wind and sun,
Sometimes across a rolling ocean
The sun catches my eye, sand crunches between my toes,
I sit on the sand reaching out across an ocean
Watching the sun go down,
Chose gentle words, so a silent wave may carry your words
Across a rolling ocean

G-d Is One
G-d said, "Everything in the world I created in pairs,
The heavens and earth,
The sun and moon,
Husband and wife,
But as for me, I am only one."
The heavens and earth,
The sun and moon,
Husband and wife,
But as for me, I am only one."
Do You Ever Remember
Friends forever,
Do you remember saying that together?
Do you remember making angels in the snow?
Sitting and watching the sunset glow?
Do you remember what you used to say?
That you would be there for me every single day?
Do you remember when you would grab my hand and we would run off to play,
I think of that while I ask for you to come back to me when I pray
Do you ever look back?
And wish you hadn't?
Do you ever remember?
Or wish we were still friends forever?
I do.
When you meet those girls,
Did you ever think this would happen?
That it would make you dampen?
That you would start to ignore me?
Tell me that friends forever could no longer be?
That you would spread rumors,
Because they thought it was cool?
That you would make boys fight over you, in a pathetic duel?
Do you remember when we thought those guys were jerks?
I do.
You stabbed me in the back,
You threw my life off track,
I thought you were my friend,
But that has come to an end,
I just want to know, do you ever regret it?
Do you ever want to mend it?
Do you ever remember?
I do.

I Hope You Dance
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..

Sleep To Dream
Time to rest our eyes
We visit imagination
Best vacation of mind
Hidden desires, lost memories
Hopeful prayers aren't blind
Stand up and speak clear
When in real time-we sleep
Viewing is on the clock
More thoughts to keep
Time to rest in hours
Dreaming in peace
Sleeping) in peace
Fear isn't common
Occurring once a blue
Control your eyes
Wake up for two
This is a test
Prepare for life
Dream to make
Sleep to dream.

Our Generation
Our generation will be known for nothing.
Never will anybody say,
We were the peak of mankind.
That is wrong, the truth is
Our generation was a failure.
Thinking that
We actually succeeded
Is a waste. And we know
Living only for money and power
Is the way to go.
Being loving, respectful, and kind
Is a dumb thing to do.
Forgetting about that time,
Will not be easy, but we will try.
Changing our world for the better
Is something we never did.
Giving up
Was how we handled our problems.
Working hard
Was a joke.
We knew that
People thought we couldn’t come back
That might be true,
Unless we turn things around

A Smile
It costs nothing, but creates much
It enriches those who receive,
Without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash and the memory of it lasts forever.
None are so rich they can get along without it
And none so poor but are richer for its benefits.
It creates happiness in the home,
Fosters good will in a business,
And is the countersign of friends.
It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged,
Sunshine to the sad, and nature's best antidote for trouble.
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen,
For it is something that is no earthly good to anybody
Till it is given away.
If someone is too tired to give you a smile,
Leave one of yours.
For, nobody needs a smile so much
As those who have none to give.
It enriches those who receive,
Without impoverishing those who give.
It happens in a flash and the memory of it lasts forever.
None are so rich they can get along without it
And none so poor but are richer for its benefits.

I will always be there for you
When you are sad I will dry your tears, when you are scared I will comfort your fears
When you are worried I will give you hope, when you are confused I will help you cope
And when you are lost and can't see the light, I shall be your beacon shining ever so bright
This is my oath why may you ask, because you are my friend
When you are lonely and need someone to talk to remember I am here for you
I will hug you when you are sad, I will be with you when you pray
I will laugh with you when your happy, I will cry with you when you are sad
I will make the mountain so you can walk, I will shut everyone up so you can talk
I will dance with you, I will jump to the sky with you if I could
I will do everything for you, because you are my friend and I love you
I will always be there for you

Fun can be a car
Fun can be a horse
Fun can be running
Fun can be hiding
Fun can be riding
Fun can be lying
Fun can be true
Fun can be rude
Fun can be crude
Fun can be you
